Date When Celebrated: The first Friday in October

World Smile Day celebrates the ever popular yellow smiley. It also offers us an opportunity to do an act of kindness. According to the World Smile Day website, a proclamation of this day was made by the U.S. Congress. Now that should put a smiley on your face.

The smiley face became so popular, that the U.S. Post Office issued a stamp with the smiley face.

The intent of World Smile Day is to do an act of kindness, or help one person to smile. Why not do both!?

The yellow smiley stands brightly smiling upon this day, offering it's stamp of approval.

Swastik Jewellers believes that the customer is not just buying a piece of jewellery, there is a lot more behind this purchase. There are emotions like happiness, pride, success, achievement, love, care and above all feeling of ownership of something that is precious and rare. Thus, each customer has its unique story to buy and wear the jewellery. There are more emotions behind every transaction and every customer walking into the store carries its own happiness along. Since Swastik Jewellers calls itself “Aap ke Khushiyon ke Subhekchak”, it naturally became the promoter of happiness. Thus was the origin of ‘Mission Smile’. The jewellery store has installed a smile-o-meter into the store for the happy customer to punch in its smile count.

Mission Smile helps our store team to dedicate their energy and effort to give customer an experience and warmth of love and respect when they are connected to the brand. The mission started in December 2016 and has achieved nearly 700 smiles till 31st

March 2017.

The year 2018 saw another 1000 smiles being created with the great efforts of our motivated staff and sales team. The year 2019 being the third year to be running the 'Mission Smile' and generating more and more happiness to our customers. The new financial year now has new target to bag more smiles into the store. 

 The brand is looking way forward to create a new milestone in their store history.

About the Smiley Face:

Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. The State Mutual Life Assurance Company hired Harvey as a free lance artist to create a smiley face for use in improving company morale. From there, the bright and cheerful smiley grew in popularity. It's popularity grew slowly at first. Then, it exploded in the 1970's. Ultimately, the smiley became wildly popular.

There is some controversy over the smiley's creation. French entrepreneur named Franklin Loufrani claimed to have invented it in 1968. In 1971 he patented it in 80 countries.

Origin of World Smile Day:

Harvey Ball of Worcester Ma. created World Smile Day. Concerned about over commercialization of his smiley, he felt one day a year should be dedicated to smiling and doing acts of kindness.

The first World Smiley Day celebration was on October 1, 1999. It is unclear why the date of the celebration was moved.

World Emoji Day

World Emoji day is celebrated on July 17 around the world.

 Emojis were first used in Japan in the late 1990s on mobile phones. They are fun to use. As a result, their popularity and use has grown exponentially. Today, you couldn't imagine a world without emojis.

In the last few years, major corporations have gotten into the act, creating an enormous assortment of emojis for us to use for almost any emotion or occasion. Retail outlets have also joined the fun. You can find emojis on all sorts of products, from stationery to T-shirts, to pillows.

At Swastik Jewellers we had added an emoji, a smiling emoji in our campaign ‘Mission Smile’. Our core idea was to spread happiness and satisfaction among our customers and employees.  We installed a Smile-o-Meter for customers to punch in if they are happy and satisfied with our products and services. We had a monthly target to create 100 smiles. Every smiling customer would give a job satisfaction and smiling staff. This created a lighter moment among the customer and the employees. At one go you see smiling faces all around you.

Emojis have their roots in the yellow smiley of the 1960s and 1970s.. Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. Harvey's smiley also gained world-wide popularity

The Origin of World Emoji Day:

Jeremy Burge created Emojipedia in 2013. He followed that up, by creating World Emoji Day in 2014.

It is very appropriate for this to be a "World" day, as emojis are popular around the world.
